Two families of ultra-miniature peelable heat shrink tubing (PHST) products announced today by Junkosha are aimed at helping make tools for
micro-surgical procedures safer, more precise, and less invasive. Introduced at the MD&M West conference and exposition, the ultra-small PHST
and high-shrink ratio PHST products are believed to be the first of their
kind on the market. Intended primarily for use in miniaturised micro catheters and guide wires, the new products are part of the company’s initiative
to help enable access to the most exacting parts of the vasculature with
minimal impact on the patient.
Junkosha’s ultra-small PHST offers a recovered ID as low as 0.009 in.,
making it suitable as a laminated jacket coating for tiny guide wires,
typically between 0.011 in. and 0.014 in. The resulting miniature guide
wires are well suited for surgical systems that must navigate tiny vessels
to reach a lesion or vessel segment within, for example, the brain or heart.
Junkosha says that its high-shrink ratio PHST (2:1) is ideal for processes
where tapered microcatheter shafts are used or where tolerance take-up
is an issue.
EMI Shielding Fan Vents
8200 Series Shielded Fan Vents are designed to provide EMI
shielding and maximum airflow without degrading the fan
output. These vents provide a low cost option to perforated
metal when airflow rates are critical. Tech-Etch stocks fan
vents in seven sizes corresponding to industry standard fans
with standard 4-hole mounting.
Shielding performance is achieved from 1/8 cell aluminum
honeycomb panels mounted in high-strength extruded
aluminum frames with beryllium copper shielding strips for
shielding the frame to the enclosure. Since the honeycomb
design yields 97 percent open vent area, unrestricted airflow
results in reduced turbulence plus lower noise levels than
vents constructed from perforated metal. Dust screens consisting of multilayer expanded aluminum can be added, but
airflow will be restricted.
The MicroFlow II is an ideal Class 1 ductless carbon filtered workstation equipped
with Activated Carbon filtration, for fumes, odors, and non-hazardous chemical vapors. Completely self contained with integral recessed work surface to contain spills.
A clear shroud surrounds the work area and includes a hinged viewing sash for user
protection. Sash can be conformed for use with a microscope. Variable speed fan
control allows for high speed 100f/m. air flow thru the sash opening, or medium
and low flow for sensitive operations.
Typical applications include, sample weighing, general chemistry involving small volumes of common chemicals, individual work stations, tissue staining and processing, gluing & drying operations, solvent cleaning of electronic parts, soldering fumes
and odors, school demonstration workstations, containment of forensic applications.
