Motors & Motion Control
Stepper Motors Offer Max Power, Minimum Space
With the FDM0620 series, MICROMO (Clearwater FL) presents a high
performance FAULHABER stepper motor with minimal size. All components
(including connections) are in a housing that measures 9.7mm in length
and 6.0mm in diameter. With a holding torque rating of 0.25mNm and
a dynamic torque of up to 0.2mNm, these stepper motors are a great fit
for applications in which high power is required in a small space. Portable
devices are an excellent example. The open-loop operation enables fast
and simple implementation, and the holding torque rating and the precise
angular accuracy make this product the ideal solution for applications with
high requirements on angular and linear positioning.

Integrated Servo System with
Multi Turn Absolute Encoder Option
Moog Animatics (Milpitas, CA) has announced the availability of the Multi
Turn Absolute Encoder options for its “MT” series motors. This option is
a hardware-specific internal change with a required external battery for
backup to allow tracking of shaft position when no power is being applied
to the SmartMotor. The “MT” series products may be ordered in kit form
with battery and cable or as separate parts. There are three different cable
length options for the battery. The battery itself attaches to the Limits with
an I/O connector and uses the home switch input.

Servo-Driven Rotary Actuator
Shimpo Drives (Itasca, IL)
announced its STH servo-driven
rotary actuator, a mid-perfor-mance product that sets a new
price/performance point in rotary
positioning. A Shimpo Able servo
reducer is the interface between
the servo motor and STH output
actuator. The Able gearbox features simple mounting of nearly
any small to medium servo motor and gives the complete STH package
net ratios ranging from 12:1 through 324:1.

Motor, Gearhead, and Encoder Tailored to User Needs
Like all motors in the maxon (Fall River, MA) DCX series, these brushed
DC motors feature high power density and low vibration. In addition to the
technical highlights, the solution’s appeal lies in the configuration options.
Motors, gearheads, and encoders may be selected and ordered online.
After only 11 working days, even complex drive systems are ready to be
shipped. Detailed product data can be viewed online immediately, and 3D
data for the configuration is available for downloading. The center of the
maxon motor is the unique ironless winding, maxon system. This motor
concept has unique advantages, including low electromagnetic interference
and a complete lack of magnetic cogging torque.
