Sapphire and Ruby Balls
This line of sapphire and ruby balls from Meller optics are designed for use as ball check valves,
stylus tips, fiberoptic, and endoscope lens systems that can now be supplied with a calibration
certificate validating diameter and sphericity.
The balls feature Mohs 9 hardness which is second only to diamond, are impervious to most
chemicals, solvents, and detergents and have surface finishes of 0.008 to 0.010 micron Ra. Available in 42 inch and metric sizes from 0.1 mm to 0.5 in. diameter, they can now be supplied with
a calibration certificate validating diameter and sphericity.
Suitable for a wide range of applications because of their durability and stability, Meller Sapphire
and Ruby Balls have a 2,000°C melting point, 0.2 coefficient-of-friction, and a refraction index of
1.76 microns at 20°C. They can also be drilled and precision ground into plano-convex lenses.
Flush-Head Studs Meet Tight Space Needs
PEM FHL and FHLS self-clinching flush-head studs from PennEngineering feature a low-displacement head design enabling close-to-edge installation of the fasteners in thin metal
sheets. The studs provide attachment solutions compared with weld studs and other conventional hardware.
With their close-to-edge installation capabilities, the studs suit applications where the footprint
for attachment hardware is limited. Their low-displacement head design prevents any bulging
of the edge of the sheet where the studs are mounted. With the head installed flush in the
sheet, the studs will not protrude or otherwise interfere with assemblies.
The studs are manufactured from steel (FHL) or stainless steel (FHLS) and will mount successfully in steel or aluminum sheets with thickness of .040 in. / 1mm and greater. Thread
sizes to accept mating nuts range from #2-56 / M2.5 through #10-32 / M5.
The 2775 series pressure and vacuum pumps from Gardner Denver THOMAS units are RoHS
compliant and can be used for either pressure or vacuum operation.
The 2775CE50 (115/60/1) is UL approved and provides an open flow of 5. 5 cfm (155.7
l/min) and can operate up to 100 psi ( 6. 9 bar) continuously as well as a continuous maximum vacuum up to 90 percent of local barometer. The 2775CGHI50 (230/60/1 & 220-
240/50/1) is TUV approved, provides an open flow of 5. 5 & 4. 6 cfm (155.7 & 130.2 l/min)
respectively, and can operate up to 100 psi ( 6. 9 bar) continuously as well as a continuous
maximum vacuum up to 90 percent of local barometer.
The pumps incorporate a cathodic epoxy coated monolithic head, cathodic epoxy coated wetted parts, quality die-cast aluminum components, as well as more robust design features that
utilize best practices from other product series. A capacitor, capacitor insulator boot, and intake
filter are assembled to the unit as standard.
EPDM Gaskets Offer SIP Stability

steam-in-place (SIP) cycles. Formulated for SIP stability in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, FlowSmart’s functionality ensures that the gaskets do not compromise
critical high-purity processes and, importantly, do not trap bacteria – a trait common in
other types of EPDM gaskets due to deformation.
FlowSmart’s PolyClamp gaskets overcome the issue of stickiness, which can be problematic when using EPDM gaskets after a number of SIP cycles have been performed, as the
gasket can adhere to the ferrule faces. In contrast, FlowSmart’s EPDM material ensures
clean, intact removal with no trace of the elastomer material finding its way into the process fluid.
Designed in accordance with ASME-BPE standards, PolyClamp EPDM gaskets are USP
Class VI certified and are available in 10 size options from ½ to 8 in. unflanged, and in
eight flanged size options from 1 to 8 in.
